Wychavon Way FP to Bredon Hill

Starting 12-miles away in Droitwich Spa and finishing after 40-miles in Broadway, the Wychavon Way comes past our boundary up Pensham Hill, just after Pershore Bridges. It meets with the River Avon at Pensham Fields, before continuing to pretty Great Comberton village. The village borders the hill and it is as you exit the village that you leave the road to ascend the hill for Banbury Tower with its wonderful views over Pershore, the Malverns and even to the Brecons.

Highly recommended for confident walkers. Please give yourself 10-mile return.

Option for a pitstop at Elmley Castle's Queen Elizabeth Inn.

Pensham Hill Sunset Walk

PENSHAM 2-MILE CIRCULAR WALK

For an easy 2-mile walk, particularly lovely at the end of the day to take in sunset over the Malverns, follow the map below for a circular route across the fields in Pensham hamlet.

Head down the woodland path, left up Pensham Hill, then right (after 200m) at FP sign that takes you along the gravel drive of no. 8a Pensham Hill. Follow FP between houses onto a private field, ensuring you keep alongside the right of the field's perimeter. At end of field you will reaching a kissing gate in between the hedgerow. Going through, the land gives away across a wide and long field - you will see the Malvern Hills at 1 o'clock. Continue straight ahead, following the track cutting through the crops and across the field.

At end of field, passing the farm on right, turn left onto tarmac road. This is what we call 'the bottom of Pensham' with houses either side of the road. Please take care of the lorries that pass along here to the plant business. Take a left again at apex to walk back up Pensham Hill road and to descend Pensham Hill.

...

To add 2-miles, from 'the bottom of Pensham', don’t turn left onto Pensham Hill but continue to end of the hamlet of houses. Turn left along track. Take the right after greenhouses to walk around perimeter of field, the river will appear on right after some 300m. Do not proceed towards the farm house.

Ignore the Wychavon Way waymarker. Mary Brook footbridge (for Great Comberton) will appear after 400m on right as land descends. Continue along right perimeter of field until you reach row of trees. Turn left and walk up trees until track appears. Turn right here, follow until you reach road. Left up road and site half a mile on left.
